COOSA Composites manufactures structural panels made of high-density, polyurethane foam reinforced with layers of fiberglass.
The decomposition (no-rot) and lightweight advantages of foam combined with the structural properties of fiberglass make “Coosa Board” an excellent replacement material for wood and other traditional core materials.
Coosa panels are used throughout the marine, transportation, and construction industries in structural and non-structural applications.
TWO SERIES OF COOSA PANELS
Coosa manufactures two different series of panels to address a variety of application needs:
NAUTICAL
Coosa’s Nautical Panels are a lightweight and cost-effective alternative to traditional core materials. These panels are predominately used for low stress structural components such as walls, cabinetry, bulkheads, and more.
BLUEWATER
Coosa’s Bluewater Panels are stronger and stiffer than the Nautical series due to the addition of woven roving fiberglass. Bluewater panels have very high strength-to-weight ratio making them the perfect plywood replacement. These panels are designed for structural components such as flooring, stringers, transoms and more.
ADVANTAGES
– 40 to 60% lighter than plywood
– Virtually no water absorption (< 1% average)
– Superior resiliency and endurance
– Not vulnerable to mold, algae, or fungus
– Dimensionally stable
– Will not rot
– Not susceptible to insect infestation
– 2 to 3 times the R-value of plywood.
